We're coming back like buckles on shoes.
Idle Thumbs > Write for Us

Are you...

  • A writer who wants to submit a single contribution, or wants a permanent staff position?
  • An illustrator or cartoonist?
  • A blog and/or news fiend?
  • An advanced robot programmed for database maintenance?

If your answer is "yes" to any of those questions, then you're pretty much in luck! But before you contact us, you might want to carefully read the rest of this page.

How to get involved
First: unlike most sites of our kind, you don't actually have to be permanently on the staff to write for us. We're always interested in outside contributions. Really, the easiest way for us to notice you is to send a writing sample our way.

We created this site for fun, but we also want to do a half-decent job. That means we're expecting a high level of enthusiasm and personal motivation from everyone involved. We'd like to hear from people who have their own ideas, and who let their personality show through in what they make. Be sure you can at least meet or exceed the quality of our current content.

A lot of people contact us in a whim, but fail to follow through on anything. This makes us sad. Some people also plaster "Game Journalist for Idle Thumbs" (??) accross their signatures and profiles before we've even replied to their letter. If this sounds like you, please... you're hurting us. Make sure you're serious BEFORE you hit the send button.

We also apparently need to point out that we don't get off on unnessary bitterness, flurries of bad language, or pretentious dissertations laced with Aristotle quotes. We're sure you mean well, but we're looking for a certain balance in our articles. Basically, try to write from your personal experiences and keep your bullshit-filters in check.

Mind you, sample material doesn't have to be perfect. Our own articles often get several revisions. Just give us a hint of what you're capable of, and we'll let you know what we think. Good luck! (If you need to send attachements, you can send them to )

It is not as bad as it seems, because the voltage is quite low.
